With my mileage increasing and the cost of fuel also increasing at an ever growing pace, my desire to move to a more economical car become more pressing. I had (and still have) a desire to remain with an Alpina so the best of all worlds was a D3 Touring, essentially an upgraded 320d with Alpina trimmings and handling. While this was a great car with 40 mpg fuel economy, it was a manual with a relatively basic spcification that didn't suit me and with fine looking wheels that were easy to buckle, I moved it on and went to a 730d.
