My second Carlton Diplomat lasted a little longer than the first (2 months instead of 2 weeks before I got bored), I still found it frustrating that such a fine car had an under-powered engine. Don't get me wrong, the Diplomat is a superb car but I think the 2.0i 8V engine is not well matched to the auto 'box in a car of this size. How anybody could live with a 1.8 Estate auto is beyond me (0-60 measured on a calendar)!! I was craving the same spec' but in a better perfroming car, enter the Senator 24V...
